First Look
Furball Aero-Design has released their first photo-etched detail set and this one is a simple update for the recent Tamiya 1/48 F-14A Tomcat kit. Out of the box, the Tamiya kit represents the early Tomcat as it appeared in the mid-1970s, but for those who want to convert the model into later configurations, one detail needed is the stiffener plate applied to either side of the aircraft's vertical stabilizers, just below the fin cap.
If you're looking at this set, you've no-doubt seen some of the other solutions out there to replicate the stiffeners from vinyl tape to resin shapes, but this set can be simply applied to the tails with cyano and you can move on to your other airframe and cockpit updates. This set provides one complete sets of stiffener plates.
This is a timely and useful update set and I hope Furball Aero-Design will consider producing more such detail sets in the future.
Thanks to Furball Aero-Design Models for the review sample.
