First Look
Eduard from the Czech Republic is easily the most prolific producer of aftermarket details. Period. Their series of photo-etched detail sets have brought additional fidelity to otherwise bland subjects, and have taken even the best-produced models and kicked them up a notch or two with details that cannot be produced with injection-molded plastic.
When Eduard first introduced the acetate-printed instrument faces that go behind their photo-etched instrument panels, this raised the bar on model cockpit reality as you could almost read the time on the aircraft clock.
In this release, Eduard has provided a very nice update for the Kinetic 1/48 E-2C Hawkeye cockpit. This set provides two frets of photo-etch, one that is color-printed that provides a new instrument panel, center console, overhead console and side consoles with lots of finely printed details, new rudder pedals as well as seat belt and shoulder harnesses. The other fret has consoles, trim wheels and other details to help bring out the nice features inside the Kinetic kit. This set is for the standard E-2C releases including the USN, French Navy, and JASDF variants. Eduard has a different set for the Hawkeye 2000 release.
My sincere thanks to Eduard for this review sample!
