First Look
Eduard from the Czech Republic is easily the most prolific producer of aftermarket details. Period. Their series of photo-etched detail sets have brought additional fidelity to otherwise bland subjects, and have taken even the best-produced models and kicked them up a notch or two with details that cannot be produced with injection-molded plastic. Many AMS modelers will collect the relevant Eduard photo-etch sets for a given project, but they'll also go out and gather specific resin enhancements as well.
In this release, Eduard has rendered an extensive detail set for the Great Wall Hobbies' 1/48 P-61B Black Widow kit. This set focuses on the landing gear and wheel wells of the kit. As you can see in the image above, this set provides structure details for the interior sides and bulkheads of the main wheel wells and the nosewheel well. These structure details are extended onto the interiors of the landing gear doors as well. The landing gear struts are also supplemented with hub details and brake lines for the main gear struts, and even a spray shield for the nosewheel strut.
This set is one of several released for the Great Wall Hobbies kit and elevates the level of detail in the kit nicely.
My sincere thanks to Eduard for this review sample!
