First Look
Eduard from the Czech Republic is easily the most prolific producer of aftermarket details. Period. Their series of photo-etched detail sets have brought additional fidelity to otherwise bland subjects, and have taken even the best-produced models and kicked them up a notch or two with details that cannot be produced with injection-molded plastic. Many AMS modelers will collect the relevant Eduard photo-etch sets for a given project, but they'll also go out and gather specific resin enhancements as well.
In this release, Eduard has rendered a detail set focused on the wheel wells and landing gear struts of the 1/48 scale Revell (Monogram) PBY-5A and OA-10A Catalina kits. This set provides structural overlays for the interior walls of the nose and main gear wells as well as replacement oleo scissors for the landing gear struts and new brake lines. This set will be straightforward to install and it will provide some eye-catching details in this part of the model that otherwise minimal details on the stock kit.
This set is one of several released for the Revell PBY-5A/OA-10A kit and elevates the level of detail in the kit nicely.
My sincere thanks to Eduard for this review sample!
