First Look

The Academy Phantom is in most respects the best 48th scale Phantom. However, there is always room for improvement. The Academy intakes are providing a basic trunk but it is not realistic, although much better than a blank intake wall.

DMold offers one more time a very nice intake set that offers a nice trunk as well as the convenience of not having to sand the joint seams.  Add to that the nice white resin being used and painting is reduced to a minimum. The set will not be a surprise to the modelers that have seen the DMold set for the Hasegawa kits.  The new set is not identical to the old set but with a little work the Hasegawa set can fit the Academy kit.

The mold quality is really nice as it is to be expected from DMold. My example had no flaws and it will require minimum cleanup. The panel line are very discrete and will match nicely the Academy panel lines. This set will be used shortly in my Academy Phantom build.

Sincere thanks go to DMold for the review sample.
