First Look
Stevens International has started to import the interesting line of Zimmerit from Cavalier Model Productions. This series of zimmerit are designed for specific kits and the parts are designed to laminate straight to the kit, and for those parts which would be too difficult to attempt a laminate solution, Cavalier replaces a nicely cast replacement part.
This set in particular was designed to provide Zimmerit for the DML kit #6082, the Jagdpanzer IV/70(A). The sheet contains fourteen parts cast from a thin and flexible resin. Simply cut out the parts and laminate them over the kit hull in the places indicated. Four additional parts are provided for the rear hull and gun mantel which are direct replacements for the kit parts.
Once the zimmerit is applied, simply paint and weather accordingly. The instructions provide clear guidance on when and where in the kit assembly process these parts should be applied.
If you'd rather go through the process of applying putty or some other substance on your model the old-fashioned way, by all means go for it. If you do want zimmerit on your next project, but don't want to make a career out of applying it, give this series a try!
My sincere thanks to Stevens International for this review sample!
