First Look
Barracuda Studios produces a growing line of resin details under the BarracudaCast brand to compliment their BarracudaCals decal line. This release is a 'snapshot upgrade' for Revell's recent 1/32 Spitfire Mark IX kit. While the kit is generally a nice model out of the box, the cockpit lacks details inside the cockpit, notably on the sidewalls and a few other details.
This set doesn't replace the areas of the cockpit which are nice as-is such as the rear cockpit frame and instrument panel. Instead, this set focuses on the side walls to provide the structural details, control boxes, throttle quadrant, control yoke, trim wheels, compass, etc. This set provides a lower-cost upgrade to the kit than one or more other cockpit replacement sets on the market which also command much higher prices.
For those who are unhappy with the kit's pilot's seat, Barracudacast also provides a replacement seat w/armor plate set, as well as a finely cast cockpit entry door with separately cast crowbar set. There is even a set of replacement wheels also available to tackle that part of the Revell kit. My sincere thanks to Barracuda Studios for this review sample!
