First Look
Armory of the Ukraine produces a wide variety of kits and detail sets, with this release providing a nice update to the AMT/ERTL/Italeri 1/72 XB-70 Valkyrie mach 3 bomber kit.
The set was evidently designed using the long J79 nozzle pattern which was common with the late-model F-4 Phantom II and late F-104 Starfighter aircraft, but they show how to cut these down to the short nozzle configuration which was used on the XB-70 as well as early F-4 and F-104 aircraft.
In addition to building up six detailed nozzles inside and out, this set also provides structural details for the rear of the aircraft as well. If you have wanted to build your XB-70 kit, or have built one and want to upgrade those J79 nozzles, here's a photo-etched set that will get that job done right.
You can purchase Armory products from a number of online stockists as well as directly from their online store.
My sincere thanks to Armory for this review sample!
