First Look

AMS Resin is back with another nice detail set, this time for the 1/48 scale F-5E Tiger II. 'Which one?' you might ask. Indeed, there are two out there of note - one produced by ESCI and reissued under the Italeri brand, and the other the Monogram kit. Both build into decent representations of the F-5E (though the Monogram kit is still my favorite) and I'm rather surprised that nobody has released a new-tool F-5E in 1/48 or 1/32 scale in a few decades (hint, hint).

If you're familiar with AMS Resin products, you know that they don't produce a 'one size fits all' solution to your detailing problems. Indeed, there are two versions of this detail set, one tooled to drop into the front office of the Monogram kit, the other designed to fit the differences in shape of the ESCI/Italeri kit. The price is the same for both sets, as is the part number - you simply specify which kit you're building at the time of your order and AMS will send you the correct parts you'll need for the project. The retail price does include shipping.

Here are the two sets - the Monogram set is on the left, the ESCI/Italeri set is on the right:
