First Look
AMS Resin is a relatively new company with an interesting product line. In this latest release, they've created a simple conversion that replicates real life. To convert the F-100's 275 gallon fuel tank into a 335 gallon tank, the tank was lengthened by 28 inches by inserting a cylinder approximately 26 inches in diameter at the widest part of the tank. The 275 gallon tank was cut in half at the widest point and the insert welded into place.
The Monogram 1/48 F-100D kit comes with a pair of 275 gallon tanks, which is ideal for operations in the 1950s when these aircraft wore beautiful color schemes. By Vietnam however, the tanks were modified to add additional range to the aircraft.
AMS Resin has engineered this set which provides a new resin tank front end AND plug - an easy tank conversion.
In addition, the distinctive radar warning receiver (RWR) antenna fairing that was installed under the nose of some Super Sabres has also bee added to this set should you want to upgrade your Monogram kit as well.
Look for some other interesting releases for the Monogram 1/48 F-100 series. AMS Resin provides some nice detail at a very reasonable price.
Recommended for experienced modelers!
My sincere thanks to AMS Resin for this review sample!
