First Look
AMS Resin is back with another nice detail set, this time for the Czech Model (Squadron) 1/32 scale F-80C Shooting Star kit. This set transforms the stock cockpit into an accurate representation of the F-80C's front office.
The set starts with a new cockpit tub that adds missing details and corrects others rendered on the kit's styrene tub. Sidewalls, throttle, and a corrected control stick are also included.
Then there is the ejection seat. The kit's seat may look okay in isolation, but when set against another 1/32 seat, you can see that the kit's seat was designed to accommodate a 300 pound pilot. It is wide, which is fine for plus-sized aviators, but no such seat exists unfortunately. This replacement seat captures the right proportions and adds other details missing from the kit seat.
Notice the instrument panel? It is indeed blank, but it does have peripheral details not present on the kit part and will still accept the color-printed Eduard photo-etch instrument panel provided in the kit.
Recommended for experienced modelers!
My sincere thanks to AMS Resin for this review sample!
