First Look
Yellow-Wings Decals has entered the scene with an interesting specialty area - markings for USN Navy aircraft prior to World War II (hence the Yellow Wings name). These markings are printed by Microscale, so they are great quality by definition.
In this set, markings are provided for each of the six section leads for both VT-2 (Torpedo Squadron Two) and VT-5. Remember when Navy squadrons had 18 aircraft assigned? The markings include the fuselage ID numbers, wind numbers, bureau numbers, and US Navy markings. National markings, color bands and squadron emblems are covered on a different decal sheet. In addition, extra numbers are provided to replicate any of the other 24 aircraft in both squadrons by replacing the appropriate aircraft the bureau numbers. The correct identifications are included in the instructions.
The set also includes several pages of profiles and documentation to help you replicate the correct colors in the right places to render an accurate model.
Yellow-Wings Decals can be purchased directly from their website at www.yellow-wingsdecals.com.
My sincere thanks to Yellow-Wings Decals for this review sample!
