First Look
Yellow Wings Decals is back with some new decal releases and in this case, markings for the Williams Brothers 1/32 F9C-2 Sparrowhawk which served as a parasite fighter aboard the US Navy's airships USS Macon and USS Akron. Above the top of the wing was a hook and latch system which allowed the aircraft to be suspended from a trapeze for transport and then launched (dropped) and recovered as the mission required.
This decal set provides markings for three Sparrowhawks and as usual, the decals are printed as single-layer full-color markings from Microscale and all are in perfect register.
This set includes:
- F9C-2, 9056, USS Macon
- F9C-2, 9058, USS Akron
- F9C-2, 9060
The color profiles don't indicate which airship 9060 was assigned to, but the decal sheet has sufficient markings and stencils for you to build all three aircraft. Nice!

My sincere thanks to Yellow-Wings Decals for this review sample!
