First Look
Worldwide Aviation Decals is a new aftermarket decal company from the Netherlands which has started off with an interesting selection of releases. In this release, we have four World War II Luftwaffe subjects that were stationed in the Netherlands at different times during the war.
The subjects in this release include:
- Bf 109F-2, W.Nr.8165, I./JG 52, Leeuwarden, June 1941, as flown by Gruppenkommander Karl Heinz Leesman
- Bf 109G-6, W.Nr.Unknown, III./JG 1, White 20, Volkel, Dec 1943
- Ju 88A-4, W.Nr.1610, KGR 506, S4+BH, Leeuwarden, March 1942
- He 111H-3, W.Nr.3193, II./KG 26, 1H+CC, Gilze Rijen, Sep 1940
This set provides all of the distinctive markings as well as national markings (including complete swastikas) for all four aircraft. The instructions warn that the carrier film is thin so be ready to place each marking within a few seconds of placing the decal in water. This should make the decals settle to the surface of the model with little effort. Also note that these decals are all printed as single-layer markings so you're not having to stack one decal atop another to complete the artwork and having the resulting lump on the surface of your model. Nice!
