First Look
Vagabond Decals has released its next set, this time covering VF-84 Jolly Rogers in their operations with the F-4 Phantom II between 1965 and 1975. As you can see in the subject list below, there are five examples of the aircraft across that ten year period which included cruises aboard the USS Independence and USS Roosevelt and in various types from the F-4B and F-4J to the F-4N.
This decal set comes on two decal sheets and provides markings for five aircraft:
- F-4B, 151516, VF-84, AG/200, USS Independence, 1965, CAG aircraft
- F-4J, 153779, VF-84, AG/205, USS Independence, 1969
- F-4J, 155858, VF-84, AE/204, USS Roosevelt, 1970
- F-4J, 157274, VF-84, AG/204, USS Roosevelt, 1971
- F-4N, 152253, VF-84, AG/201, USS Roosevelt, 1975, Skipper's aircraft
The set comes with sufficient national markings and major stencils for two kits. Take a close look at these decal sheets. All of these decals are in perfect register and none require you to stack multiple layers of decals to recreate what you see here. Like the nice decals from Yellow Wings Decals, these are printed by Microscale and look great. Isn't it nice to see the quality decals that don't make you do the extra work of overlaying one decal over another?
