First Look
Starfighter Decals has released this interesting set of F4F-4 Wildcats in 1/72 scale perfect for the Hasegawa kits. These markings provide a nice cross-section of early war markings worn by these Grumman fighters.
This decal set provides markings for four aircraft:
- F4F-4, 4084, VF-41, 41-F-8, USS Ranger, 1942
- F4F-4, 5093, VF-3, 23, USS Yorktown, 1942, as flown by LtCdr Jimmy Thatch
- F4F-4, Unk, VF-11, F21, Guadalcanal, 1943, as flown by Ltjg William Leonard
- F4F-4, 5193, VF-6, 13, USS Enterprise, 1942
This sheet provides sufficient markings for 2-3 aircraft. The instructions are in color and will also help identify some of the color and detail variations for each of these subjects.
You can purchase these decals directly from Starfighter Decals on their website.
My sincere thanks to Starfighter Decals for this review sample!
