First Look
Starfighter Decals has released this interesting set of F4F-3 Wildcats in 1/72 scale perfect for the Hasegawa F4F-4 kit using the Quickboost F4F-3 wings. These markings provide a nice cross-section of early war markings worn by these Grumman fighters.
This decal set provides markings for four aircraft:
- F4F-3, 1863, VF-4, 4-F-1, World's Fair, 1940
- F4F-3, 1848, VF-42, 42-F-2, USS Ranger, 1940
- F4F-3, 3872, VF-72, 72-F-7, US Naval Aviation Museum
- F4F-3, 2527, VF-42, 42-F-8, Chambers Field, NAS Norfolk, 1940
This sheet provides sufficient markings for 2-3 aircraft. The instructions are in color and will also help identify some of the color and detail variations for each of these subjects.
