First Look
Starfighter Decals has released this interesting set of yellow-winged Curtiss Goshawks in 1/72 scale perfect for the Monogram kit. These markings provide an interesting cross-section of line aircraft from four different squadrons, most of which were operating from USS Saratoga in the 1930s.
This decal set provides markings for six aircraft:
- BFC-2, 9272, VF-2B, 2-B-7, USS Saratoga, 1934
- BFC-2, 9333, VF-3B, 3-B-7, USS Saratoga, 1937
- BFC-3, 9332, VF-2B, 2-B-18, USS Saratoga, 1934
- BFC-2, 9338, VB-6, 6-B-16, USS Enterprise, 1938
- F11C-2, 9363, VF-1B, 1-F-7, USS Saratoga, 1933
- F11C-2, 9282, VF-1B, 1-F-16, USS Saratoga, 1933
This sheet provides sufficient stencils and national markings for three models. The instructions are in color and will also help identify some of the subtle color and detail variations for each of these subjects. You can also see an ample supply of the propeller tip stripes as the markings on the main sheet were ordered backwards and the new sheet will set you up for up to eight aircraft.
