First Look

Starfighter Decals has released another useful decal set for modelers of World War II aircraft carriers. This set provides the markings to replicate the aircraft of USS Lexington's Air Group as they appeared during 1941 as well as into 1942. This air group was embarked with aircraft in early pre-war blue-gray over gray camouflage and wearing the red/white rudder stripes as well as pre-war US markings. This set provides national markings, striped rudders, as well as individual MODEX or ID numbers for the TBD Devastator, F4F Wildcat, SBD Dauntless, and F2A Buffalo.

The image above shows one of the two strips from this set. The second strip has the tiny modex numbers which would be near-invisible at the reduced resolution we use for first-looks.

This set is just what you need to take your Trumpeter 1/700 USS Lexington CV 2 and replicate the air group's look in those early days of World War II. With these distinctive aircraft on the deck, you'll have an eye-catching model.

You can purchase these decals directly from Starfighter Decals on their website.

My sincere thanks to Starfighter Decals for this review sample!
