First Look
Starfighter Decals has released another useful decal set for modelers of World War II aircraft carriers. This set provides the markings to replicate the aircraft of Air Group 84 in early 1945 which was embarked aboard the USS Bunker Hill CV 17. This is the air group that carries the 'up arrow' on their vertical stabilizers.
The image above shows three strips of decals from this set. The top strip contains their generic MODEX number sheet (one provided) and even provide the sealing tape markings for the fuselage fuel tank on the F4U Corsair. The second is their generic variety of US National markings used on tri-color camouflage as well as the overall dark sea blue aircraft (five provided). The final strip (bottom) contains the up-arrows unique to CVG 84 late in the war and five strips are provided.
This set is just what you need to take your Trumpeter 1/350 Essex-class aircraft carrier and render the USS Bunker Hill. With these distinctive aircraft on the deck, you'll have an eye-catching model.
You can purchase these decals directly from Starfighter Decals on their website.
My sincere thanks to Starfighter Decals for this review sample!
