First Look
Starfighter Decals has released this useful decal set for modelers of contemporary carrier aviation. Here is a set of decals to render the A-6E TRAM and KA-6D tankers of VA-35 Black Panthers circa 1980. This set recreates the markings of this squadron operating aboard USS Nimitz. What is equally interesting (at least to me) is that this squadron aboard the Nimitz at that time of the filming of the movie 'Final Countdown' and during the support mission for the Iranian hostage rescue mission.
This set provides the CAG MODEX 500, Skipper's MODEX 501 plus line aircraft 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 507, 510, and 511. KA-6D MODEX 520, 521, 522 and 523 are also rendered. This set provides the key markings, walkways, larger stencils, and even canopy/windscreen frames.
If you want to really dress up the Intruders on your Nimitz deck, this is a great set. The only down side is that you'll need markings of equal quality and detail for the rest of the air wing, but I suspect those will be coming along soon enough.
