First Look
Meridia Hobby has released their first two decal sheets, this first one covering three F-4B Phantom IIs from VF-14 and VF-32. Both squadrons were assigned to CVW-1 aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt during their 1966-67 Vietnam War cruise. These decals are actually a companion to a book published by their sister company - Model Publishing - which chronicles the operations of CVW-1 between 1957-1973.
The examples presented here include:
- F-4B, 151018, VF-14, AB/109, USS Roosevelt, 1966
- F-4B, 152229, VF-14, AB/103, USS Roosevelt, 1966
- F-4B, 152314, VF-32, AB/200, USS Roosevelt, 1966, CAG
The decal set provides the unique markings for all three subjects, plus national markings and airframe stencils for two models. The instructions indicate that the markings are sized for the Academy F-4B kit, but except for the rudder stripes for the VF-32 CAG, these markings will also work with the Zoukei-Mura or Hasegawa kits as well.
These decals are available directly from Meridia Hobby.
My sincere thanks to Meridia Hobby for this review sample!
