First Look

MAW-Decals has released a new set of decals, this one tackling two different Sea Stallion schemes. This set is a bargain as the MSRP is less than most decal makers charge for one decal sheet, but this set has three sheets! There are enough markings included in this set to render both subjects here. And those subjects are:

CH-53 CH-53
CH-53 CH-53 CH-53

  • CH-53D Sea Stallion, 157133, YH/00, HMH-463, USMC, March 2003 Color Profile
  • CH-53E Super Stallion, 163075. UT/06, HMT-302, USMC, Oct 2006, 'Phoenix' Color Profile

Take a close look at the top profile. That CH-53E has a 'digital camo' pattern applied to the tail (horzontal and vertical) and those patterns are provided in this set as decals. The D-model is distinctive as well with its nose art.

This set also provides as a seperate sheet MAW's new CH-53 Walkways decal sheet for the E-model (third sheet) while the first sheet has the D-model's walkways.

Whether you're building an Academy E-model or a Revell D-model, or both, this decal set is nicely done and is a bargain to boot!

My sincere thanks to MAW-Decals for this review sample!
