First Look
MAW-Decals decals continued to turn out some outstanding subjects and these two F/A-18As are no exception. This set provides the markings for two A-model bugs:
- F/A-18A+, 162396, VMFA-232, NH/300, USS Nimitz, 2007, CAG aircraft
- F/A-18A, 163154, VMFA-333, DN/01, Late 1980s
As you can see in the images, Red Devils aircraft is wearing colorful markings of the squadron Commander of the Air Wing (CAG) mount and Navy modex numbers for its deployment aboard USS Nimitz. The Shamrock aircraft is an good example of a clean low-visibility scheme as this aircraft appeared just after VMFA-333 transitioned into the F/A-18A from the Phantom II. These decals are sized for the Academy kit, though you'll need to modify the Academy F/A-18C kit to backdate it into an A-model, or simply buy one of the aftermarket kits that have been produced for this purpose.
The decal printing is crisp and colorful and the instructions are printed in full color. If you're looking for some interesting subjects for your next 1/32 F/A-18A project, here is one great option.
