First Look
Lifelike Decals from Japan turns out some colorful and nicely printed subjects. In this set, we have four distinctive Albatros D.III/V examples designed for the 1/48 Eduard kits. As usual, these decals are nicely printed and very colorful in their subject selections. This decal set provides markings for four aircraft:
- Albatros D.Va, serial unk, Jasta 76b, Habsheim, March 1918, as flown by Vfw. Karl Hopf
- Albatros D.V, serial unk, Jasta 18, Balatre, February 1918, as flown by Lt.d.R. Josef Veltjens
- Albatros D.Va, serial unk, Jasta 62, Balatre, April 1918, as flown by Lt. Max Nather
- Albatros D.III, serial unk, Jasta 5, Krefeld, June 1917, as flown by Lt.d.R. Werner Voss
As you can see in the decal images, this set comes complete with a full set of national markings, distinctive unit markings, and even wood laminate layer colors for your propeller. The instructions not only provide a great reference for the different camouflage patterns used (these patterns are not included in this set), but also a tutorial on the shapes and construction of the different propellers used on the Albatros whether powered by the Mercedes D.III, BMW D.IIIa, or Oberursel UR.II.
You can purchase these decals directly from Lifelike Decals. My sincere thanks to Lifelike Decals for this review sample!
