First Look
Lifelike Decals from Japan turns out some colorful and nicely printed subjects. In this set, we have four distinctive Fokker D.VII fighters that will definitely compliment either the Roden or Eduard 1/48 kits.
This decal set provides markings for four aircraft:
- D.VII (Fokker), 258/18, Jasta 10, Lt Friedrich 'Fritz' Friedrichs, Cappy airfield, May 1918
- D.VII (Alb), Jasta 30, Phalempin airfield, summer 1918
- D.VII (OAW), Jasta 54s, Lt Walter Vogt, summer 1918
- D.VII (Alb), Jasta 5, Lt Friedrich Vollbracht, Villers-sire-Nicole airfield, Oct 1918
Notice the odd patterns printed in brown on one section on the right side of the decals? Lifelike are provided the wood grain pattern found on the laminated layers of wood that are then carved into the propeller. Here you have a simple alternative to painting the wood grain yourself. Nice touch!
As you can see in the decal images and profiles, this set provides some distinctive color schemes. If you want to dress up the Eduard or Roden kits, this is the set you've been waiting for. Note that many of the markings in this set are decals that will have to be placed on atop another to recreate the complete marking.
You can purchase these decals directly from Lifelike Decals. My sincere thanks to Lifelike Decals for this review sample!
