First Look
Lifelike Decals from Japan turns out some colorful and nicely printed subjects. In this set, we have four distinctive Focke Wulfs. These are a combination of Fw 190A/D examples.
This decal set provides markings for four aircraft:
- Fw 190A-3, 6./JG 2, Yellow 1, Erich Rudorffer
- Fw 190A-7, 5./JG 26, White 9, Adolf Glunz
- Fw 190D-9, SG 2, White 1, Hans-Ulrich Rudel
- Fw 190D-9, II./JG 54, Yellow 11, Gunter Rey
The color profiles inside provide top, bottom and side views of the subjects, and these Japanese-made decals are have not been made 'politically correct' as the swastikas are present on the decals and in the profiles. Bravo Lifelike! The Fw 190D-9 is available from just about anyone, while the Fw 190A-3 is produced by both Hasegawa and Tamiya. Interesting that I couldn't find a kit available of the Fw 190A-7, though one can be converted to the A-7 with a little work.
As you can see in the decal image, this set comes complete with a full set of national markings, distinctive unit markings, and a wealth of maintenance stencils. If you're looking for a colorful alternative that isn't from the mainstream Superscale/Eagle Strike/Aeromaster line-up, here is a nice way to be different!
You can purchase these decals directly from Lifelike Decals. My sincere thanks to Lifelike Decals for this review sample!
