First Look

When we put up cover photos on this site, we strive to find colorful subjects that can inspire a modeler to head to the workbench. When we publish photos of USAF Eagles and Vipers, the comments are usually wishing for colorful subjects like the Japanese apply to their Eagles and NATO applies to their Vipers. Three years ago, we showed a photo of a special 75th anniversary scheme applied to an Oregon ANG F-15C, and the comments shifted quickly to wanting decals for the scheme, and more recently for the Mudhens (F-15E) painted up for the D-Day anniversary.

Eurodecals has released this new decal set replicating the unique scheme carried on that Oregon Eagle, and given that this is for a 1/32 scale model, it takes four sheets of decals to do the job.

As you can see in the images above, this set provides the distinctive artwork as well as the unit emblems and visible airframe stencils. All you need to have to use this set is a Tamiya 1/32 F-15C with MSIP II updates and painted in standard Mod Eagle camouflage. Here's a link to an article with nice photos of this aircraft.

If you have a Tamiya 1/32 F-15C kit and want an interestnig scheme, this decal set is what you're looking for. I have such a kit and I've also acquired the MSIP I/II updates, and this was originally going to be a 65th Aggressor Squadron Eagle wearing Su-35 camouflage, but now that the 65th is back flying aggressor F-35s, I think this scheme is the perfect alternative for my project. If Eurodecals follow their usual release pattern, these markings should be coming for 1/48 and 1/72 Eagles in the near future.

My sincere thanks to Fantasy Printshop for this review sample!
