First Look
Here's another nice new release from Furball Aero-Design. This set covers one of each of the distinctive camouflage schemes worn by the F-5N/F Tiger II adversaries of VFC-111. Let's take a look:
The examples presented here include:
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1531, 104, VFC-111, 2017
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1591, 120, VFC-111, 2017
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1532, 116, VFC-111, 2017
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1565, 110, VFC-111, 2017
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1575, 101, VFC-111, 2017, Skipper's aircraft
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1531, 104, VFC-111, 2017
- F-5F, 81-0834, 100, VFC-111, 2017, CAG aircraft
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1547, 105, VFC-111, 2016, Skipper's aircraft
- F-5N (F-5E), 76-1550, 121, VFC-111, 2017
This set provides markings for nine aircraft options, with stenciling to support two models.
If you note the 'bureau numbers' of these aircraft, they're the USAF serial numbers of the aircraft and can be seen in their previous service with the USAF aggressors at the 57 Wing at Nellis AFB. Several of these camouflage schemes are similar to their USAF schemes while others are unique to their time with VFC-111. I am hoping the Furball Aero-Design will release this set in 1/32 scale when the Kitty Hawk 1/32 F-5E kit is released.
My sincere thanks to Furball Aero-Design for this review sample!
