First Look

Furball Aero-Design is back with a very handy resource - a selection of US national markings, the so-called 'stars and bars' as used on US military aircraft since 1947 through today (except for the low-visbility camouflage airframes).

Stars and Bars

This set includes (in 1/48 scale):

  • 14 x 10" insignia
  • 25 x 15" insignia
  • 14 x 20" insignia
  • 10 x 25" insignia
  • 8 x 30" insignia
  • 8 x 35" insignia
  • 8 x 40" insignia
  • 8 x 45" insignia

The measurement is the radius of the roundel portion and corresponds to the standard sizes shown in technical orders for marking aircraft for the US Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Army.

How often to you see some nice color schemes provided by various kit manufacturers but the stars and bars are slightly out of register? I remember one aftermarket decal company that actually started providing the red bar as separate decals forcing us to line everything up. Furball has provided these decals in perfect register and ready to go!

My sincere thanks to Furball Aero-Design for this review sample!
