First Look
DXM Decal is a decal company out of Taipei, Taiwan that produces a very nice line of aftermarket sets. In this release, we have a set of F-15J and F-15DJ Eagles wearing the distinctive colors of aggressor aircraft. Check these out:
The examples presented here include:
- F-15DJ, 82-8091, 2006 JASDF Aggressor
- F-15DJ, 32-8081, 2009 JASDF Aggressor
- F-15J, 92-8912, 2008 JASDF Aggressor
- F-15J, 92-8906, 2004 JASDF Aggressor
- F-15DJ, 52-8088, 2005 JASDF Aggressor
This set provides two complete sets of maintenance stencils and markings to replicate at least two examples (and if you use some of the stencils from the kits, you can do more!). This set is designed to work with any 1/72 Eagle kit and the instructions list quite a few that are available. This set also comes with an instructional CD-ROM that has digital versions of the instructions, blown up versions of the stencil placement guides (nice for older eyes), and even a 33 minute video (no sound but captions in English and Chinese) showing the painting and decal steps to render these aggressor schemes. I've picked up a few interesting techniques viewing this video. Nice!
The printing is very well done and none of these decals require the modeler to stack multiple layers of markings atop one another to recreate artwork. This trend by some other decal companies of producing multiple-layer decals is unfortunate as it puts the burden on you to do the work of what should have been done by the decal maker.

My sincere thanks to DXM Decal for this review sample!
