First Look
DXM Decal is a decal company out of Taipei, Taiwan that produces a very nice line of aftermarket sets. In this release, we have the first decal sheet depicting the traditional 'Chippy Ho!' paint scheme on the new F/A-18E Super Hornet. VFA-195's CAG has traditionally carried this scheme on its F/A-18 Hornets and the squadron upgraded from the F/A-18C to the F/A-18E a year or so ago. The tradition carries forward to the Super Hornet and here is the first sheet available to depict that scheme. Take a look:
The example presented here:
- F/A-18E, 166901, NF/400, VFA-195, USS George Washington, CAG aircraft, 2011
The printing is very well done and none of these decals require the modeler to stack multiple layers of markings atop one another to recreate artwork. This trend by some other decal companies of producing multiple-layer decals is unfortunate as it puts the burden on you to do the work of what should have been done by the decal maker.
If you've wanted a distinctive color scheme for your Trumpeter 1/32 F/A-18E kit, your wait is over!
