First Look
Here is the latest decal release from Caracal Models, this time for the Trumpeter 1/48 F-100C and F-100F kits. This set provides a nice variety of subjects for the modeler to choose from. The six aircraft presented in this set include:
- F-100C, 53-1731, 113 TFG/DC ANG, 1970s
- F-100F, 56-3812, 113 TFG/DC ANG, 1970s
- F-100C, 54-1888, 177 TFG/NJ ANG, 1958
- F-100F, 56-3730, 177 TFG/NJ ANG, 1958
- F-100C, 54-1851, 150 TFG/NM ANG, 1972
- F-100F, 56-3891, 150 TFG/NM ANG, 1972
The markings are sharp and in perfect register. The decals are printed by Cartograf.
One note of caution though - the profiles all depict the aircraft with the standard afterburner nozzle for the F-100 though many of these subjects had been refitted with the more reliable nozze from the F-102. Check your references as the Trumpeter F-100C kit provides the F-102 nozzle as an option (don't ask me why this wasn't in the F-100F kit...).
