First Look

BarracudaCals has returned with their sixth installment in their 1/72 scale aircraft series with this nice nose art selection of P-40E Warhawks. These subjects run the range of North Pacific, South Pacific, and China/Burma theaters.

P-40 P-40

This set provides an interesting cross-section of subjects:

  • P-40E, 81, 9 FS/49 FG, Darwin, Australia, 1942, 'Skeeter'
  • P-40E, 20, 343 FG, Aleutian Islands, AK, 1943
  • P-40E, 85, 9 FS/49 FG, Darwin, Australia, 1942, 'Tarheel'
  • P-40E, 7, 23 FG, Kunming, China, 1942, as flown by Colonel Robert Scott

The sheets are printed by Cartograf and are very sharp as well as in-register. The sheet comes with a nice set of maintenance stencils and good instructions on where everything goes.

The instructions indicate that these markings are intended for the Hasegawa or Academy 1/72 P-40E kits. The instructions also indicate that two sets of decals are provided in order provide enough national markings and aircraft numbers for each subject, so you'll also get two complete sets of maintenance stencils as well.

My sincere thanks to BarracudaCals Decals for this review sample!
