First Look
Here is a new decal company that has started off with a pair of impressive new sets. In this release, we have an extensive set of high visibility airframe stencils used on the Intruder before the adoption of the (boring) low-visibility camouflage. The set has instructions, but they are downloaded from their website in full-color PDF format.
The instructions walk you through the differences in stenciling between the A-6A, KA-6D, A-6E, and A-6E TRAM variants as well as the differences with aircraft equipped with:
- GRU-5 versus GRU-7 ejection seats
- ALE-18 versus ALE-29A chaff systems
- ALR-15 versus APR-25 versus APR-45 radar warning systems
These decals are printed by Cartograf and feature nicely legible stencils and the variations of markings that have appeared in the life of the aircraft. This set will work on the HobbyBoss, Kinetic, or Revell Intruders and is not only ideal for the extensive USMC Intruders in Vietnam release also from AOA Decals, but with other decal sets as well. This is one set where you'll want several copies stashed away for future A-6 projects!

My sincere thanks to AOA Decals for this review sample!
