First Look

Afterburner Decals continues to turn out some impressive decal releases covering contemporary US subjects and one area that tends to get overlooked is modern weapons and pods. One other company started to produce weapons stencils, but didn't get very far in the process. Afterburner Decals has picked up the gauntlet and has put out two sets, this second one covering guided air-to-ground munitions. Let's take a look.

Weapons Weapons

The weapon/pod stencils included in this set include:

  • GBU-12D/B
  • GBU-10E/B
  • GBU-27 w/BLU-109
  • GBU-24A/B w/BLU-109
  • GBU-21(V)1/B w/Mk.84
  • GBU-31(V)3/B w/BLU-109
  • GBU-38(V)1/B w/Mk.82
  • CBU-103/B WCMD
  • Mk.82 Slick

The instructions tell you which kits' weapons were used to size these decals, many of which are targeted for the nice weapons provided in Hasegawa's 1/48 weapons sets.

You're going to want to stock up on these as Afterburner Decals has covered a nice variety of stores in this set and we'll look at Part Two - Guided Bombs soon. Perhaps we can convince Afterburner Decals to cover the US Navy's weaponry as well?

My sincere thanks to Afterburner Decals for this review sample!
