First Look
Afterburner Decals has reissued their F-16 Data and Stencils sheet and they're better than ever. You can compare these to the orignal release here.
This set provides the same details and markings as before including tail numbers, air refueling receiver markings, fuel tank fillers, canopy framing, the carbon fiber (composite) band that spaces the rear of the airframe with the afterburner nozzle assembly, and the dark spacer detail in the GE F110 nozzles.
What's different is that they've added the details for the inside of the GE F110 afterburner nozzles as well as similar exterior and interior details for the Pratt and Whitney F100-PW-229 engine. You'll also find loaded chaff and flare launcher decals here too.
As you can see in the images, the serial number blocks are done generically with plenty of numbers that will allow you to replicate any late model Viper.
Note that while most of these markings will work with any 1/48 F-16CG (Block 40/42) and F-16CJ (Block 50/52) kit, these markings were sized for the Tamiya 1/48 kits. The composite bands and frames will have to be carefully adapted to match a non-Tamiya kit.
Once again, it is time to stock up on the stencils...
My sincere thanks to Afterburner Decals for this review sample!
