First Look
Afterburner Decals has turned out some impressive decal releases covering contemporary USAF subjects and now they've pushing into contemporary US Navy as well. In this release, we have three distinctive aircraft from VFA-105, the Gunslingers, as they appeared in 2006 and in 2007.
The CAG's aircraft had a few minor changes in appearance between 2006 and 2007 which are clearly pointed out and covered by Afterburner. The main difference is that CAPT Frederick Pawlowski, who was deputy CAG in 2006 became CAG in 2007.
The aircraft presented in this set are:
- F/A-18E, 166650, VFA-105, AC/400, CAG, USS Harry S. Truman, CAPT James Cook 2006/CAPT Frederick Pawlowski 2007
- F/A-18E, 166651, VFA-105, AC/401, CO, USS Harry S. Truman, CDR Sara Joyner 2006/2007
- F/A-18E, 166655, VFA-105, AC/405, USS Harry S. Truman, 2006/2007
You have three distinctive looks to choose from - the CAG's green markings, the CO's more tactical look, or a standard low-viz line aircraft. You actually have enough markings for two aircraft, so the choices are not that difficult.
The decal set comes on two decal sheets, plus two inserts to correct some printing errors. The image above looks like one decal sheet, but there is one huge sheet and three smaller ones there.
