Afterburner Decals is a relatively new producer of aftermarket markings for a variety of contemporary subjects. They may be relatively new, but they're doing some great work. Check out this one:
F-16C Wing Kings - if you've been around the USAF very much, you know that the Wing Commander has one of the most colorful aircraft on the line. Where a Squadron Commander will proudly display the color of his/her squadron and the squadron emblem (sometimes in color), the Wing Commander displays ALL of the colors the his/her subordinate squadrons and their emblems. In this case, we have three Viper Wings represented, the 20th FW out of Shaw AFB, SC; the 27th FW out of Cannon AFB, NM; and the 56th FW out of Luke AFB, AZ.
The three aircraft presented in this decal set are:
- F-16C-50P-CF, 92-3920, 20 FW, Spring 2003, OIF Deployment
- F-16C-40G-CF, 89-2127, 27 FW, Spring 2005 & Fall 2005
- F-16C-42F-CF, 89-2056, 56 FW, Summer 2005
As you can see in the decal layout, this set provides a nice array of maintenance stencils in addition to the national markings and distinctive unit markings. In fact, Afterburner Decals provide sufficient markings for two complete aircraft.
Time to dust off one of those Hasegawa 1/48 F-16C kits. The first example will need one of the F-16CJ kits while the next two require the F-16CG kit. This set is definitely recommended for the Viper lover!
My sincere thanks to Afterburner Decals for this review sample!
