The Avengers - Thor

DML 1/9 The Avengers - Thor Build Review

By Steve Causey

Date of Review July 2013 Manufacturer DML
Subject The Avengers - Thor Scale 1/9
Kit Number 38312 Primary Media Styrene, Vinyl
Pros Easy build Cons Nothing noted
Skill Level Experienced MSRP (USD) $66.95

The Project

This is the Dragon Unpainted Thor kit in 1/9th scale, it's a combination of plastic (base, cape and torso) and a fairly hard grey vinyl for the legs, arms, hammer, hair and head. The 'flame' where the hammer strikes is a soft clear vinyl.

Assembly is simple and all parts fit together easily - mold seams are minimal and parts fit is excellent. I used Krylons for the base, and Tamiya sprays for the body and cape. The hair was done with mixed acrylics. The beard was done using artist's colored pencils. I lighted the base using a custom light kit from Starling Tech.

Dragon did an excellent job designing this kit the figure's face really looks like Chris Hemsworth!
