My wife actually brought this kit home. I was immersed in a big 1/350th scale TOS Enterprise and she thought this would be a good joke. I was very impressed when I opened the box. You get three very nicely detailed Enterprises:
- 4.5 inch TOS Enterprise molded in a very accurate color ( Light green/gray) 13 pieces
- 4.75 inch Enterprise refit molded in white. 9 pieces
- 7.25 inch Enterprise B From Star trek Generations also molded in white. 10 pieces
The next thing to catch your eye in the box are two 81/4 x 6 inch decal sheets. These are beautifully printed and provide ALL the markings for the highly Azteced refit and Enterprise B as well as the more sedate markings on the TOS ship. The decals raise the skill level of the kit but also provide a very nice looking set of little Starships.
They are very crisply molded and are designed to snap together, but they really benefit from a careful assembly. I regret not taking more time on the TOS Enterprise's seams. They really build up into some great looking little ships. The Kits fit well without glue but careful gluing will give the little ships some "survivability" as they get "Zoomed" around.
The largest of the three, Enterprise B, was the trickiest to assemble. It requires trapping several parts inside other parts and careful cleaning of sprue attachment points. Total snap assembly time: 15 minutes.
My only disappointment with the kit was the lack of display stands. It's a quick matter to put together some brass rod and some small hemispheres, but it would have been nice if they were included in the kit.
As I said, the decals make the kit, but they will also test your skill and patience in decal application. For the two later star ships, the number of decals to be applied is considerable.
I really enjoyed putting these together, and it's fun to have some tiny accurate Enterprises after building the very large ones.
