Revell 1/32 Ford Galaxie 500 #28 Fred Lorenzen

|Pros||Nicely pre-finished slot car model of Fred Lorenzen's #28 racer|
Revell sent us one of their latest 1/32 scale slot car releases. I remember when whole hobby shops were dedicated to slot car racing, some with HUGE indoor tracks. The smell of arcing brushes and the sounds of torqued up motors definitely brings back memories. Evidently the slot car hobby is re-entering the scene again!
Here is a nicely packaged car from Revell. The machine represents the Ford Galaxie 500 driven by Fred Lorenzen on the NASCAR circuit in the mid-1960s. Fred Lorenzen was considered as one of the top drivers of the day and this commemorative slot car is a nice replica of his famous #28 racer.
The model is pre-finished and ready to run. The box comes with a special slip cover with the photo shown above, whilst the box is hinged to reveal the car mounted on a display plate that can be used to display this beauty when you're not tearing up the track.
You can see in these images on the right that Revell has done a nice job of replicating the markings of this car (which you can see in historical photos on the internet). As nice as it looks, it is almost a shame to put this onto the track, but like the other cars in this series, this Ford Galaxie is designed to provide some nice performance on your slot car track or to take with you to your local club circuit.
The packaging of this special edition car is quite impressive and likewise the finish on the car. While Cybermodeler's Lab doesn't have a slot car test track to put this beauty through its paces, that might have to become one of the next upgrades to our test facilities.
My sincere thanks to Revell for this review sample!
