First Look

In past reviews, we've looked at the growing line of White Ensign Models' Colourcoats color-matched enamels that are produced in Humrol/Xtracolor styled tins. In this installment, we'll look at their line of ship colors that are color-matched to modern naval paint chips.

These colors are designed to match up with the variety of haze gray colors adopted by the modern navies in the world. In their Modern Naval Colours line of matched colors:

  • M01 - Royal Navy Light Gray
  • M02 - Royal Navy Dark Deck Gray
  • M03 - US Navy Haze Gray
  • M04 - US Navy Deck Gray
  • M05 - US Nevy Flight Deck Gray
  • M06 - US Navy Anti-fouling Red
  • M07 - French Navy Gray
  • M08 - French Navy Deck Gray
  • M11 - Russian Northern Fleet Gray
  • M12 - Russian Deck Green
  • M13 - Russian Deck Red
  • M16 - Royal Navy Light Deck Gray
  • M19 - Royal Navy Deck Green
  • M20 - Russian Navy Baltic Fleet Gray
  • M21 - US Navy Vietnam Riverine Green
  • M22 - USCG Spar

Not a bad variety of colors and this line-up is still growing. Stand by for more good things from White Ensign Models! What's nice about these tins is that their shelf life is generally longer.

You can purchase these and any of the Colourcoat line directly from the White Ensign Models website. They have great service and are a unique resource for the ship modeler - give them a try!

My sincere thanks to White Ensign Models for these review samples!
