First Look
AK Interactive has been producing a very wide range of paints and weathering products over the last several years targeted to the armored fighting vehicle and figure modelers. In this release, we have their latest set of colors to replicate the camouflage colors employed by the US Army and USMC during WWII. This colors provide the colors for mild climate (Europe and Pacific), desert (Africa and Italy), and arctic (snowy terrains) as well as the island hopping armor of the USMC. This set provides the supplemental camouflage colors, not the base coat olive drab.
This set contains six 17ml bottles which include:
- AK735 Black
- AK4221 No.5 Earth Brown
- AK4222 No.6 Earth Yellow
- AK4223 No.8 Earth Red
- AK4224 No.13 Desert Sand
- AK4225 Ocean Gray
The formulation of this set is a thicker viscosity tailored for good coverage using a paint brush though it can be airbrushed as well. This gives you the flexibility to apply base coat, camouflage, etc., using your airbrush and then use the paints for touch-ups after installing photo-etched railings and other details.
My sincere thanks to AK Interactive for this review sample!
