First Look

Those of you who like to model spacecraft will know the name New Ware of the Czech Republic for their extensive line of kits, conversions, decals, and details for a wide variety of spacecraft. I was surprised to see they've expanded their portfolio to not only include scale aircraft, but also paint masks. This set provides a sheet of dye-cut yellow tape masks to create the single or dual band stripes carried on Mk.82 500lb bombs.

The instructions show you how to use the pre-cut bands whether you wish to paint the bombs yellow first, mask, then apply the olive green or vice versa. There are sufficient masks to paint 16 bombs in each set. The instructions indicate that these are designed for the Mk.82s included in the HobbyBoss 1/48 A-6 Intruder or A-7 Corsair II kits, but these can be used for any Mk.82s you opt to use.

I'm using more paint masks in my own projects as there are fewer issues with paint-on-paint markings versus applying decals over paint. If you've been tempted to try using paint masks in your own builds, these stripes for your bombs are probably the safest/easiest way to get started.

My sincere thanks to Victory Models for this review sample!
