First Look
The UAZ-469 is an all-terrain vehicle manufactured by UAZ. It was used by the Red Army and other Warsaw Pact forces. In the Soviet Union, it also saw widespread service in all state organizations that needed a robust off-road vehicle. The UAZ-469 was introduced in 1973, replacing the earlier GAZ-69. The UAZ-469 presented two great advantages: It was able to drive in virtually any terrain and it was very easy to fix.
The Trumpeter UAZ-469 kit consists of 226 parts on 10 sprues as well as 20 photo etch detail parts. All of the parts are very well molded and there is no flash present. Molded in details are nice and the seam lines and knock out marks are kept to a minimum. Decals are well printed and feature markings for 4 vehicles. Key features of the kit are:
- PE details added to further enhance overall look
- Assembly of chassis and body as per actual vehicle
- Hood can be built open or closed
- Fully detailed exterior and interior of all four doors of the vehicle, which can be open or closed
- Fully detailed engine
- Front and rear differentials, leaf spring suspension accurately molded
- Accurate chassis frame
- Easy to build fuel tank and wheels
Construction looks to be straight forward. There are a lot of small delicate parts, so take your time.
