First Look
This was a pleasant surprise. MRC has become the exclusive US distributor for Tristar Models Ltd., announced at the iHobbyExpo 2005 show. Tristar produces a nice line of 1/35 scale figures and armor kits.
This set is number four in Tristar's figure series and represents four nicely detailed German WW2 Panzer Grenadiers. As depicted on the box art, the figures are posed at rest with two standing and two kneeling as they might look during a quick break on the back of a warm panzer engine deck.
All four figures are dressed in cold weather gear. Which the instructions show Herbst (autumn) camouflage on their overgarments, you can also simply paint these dirty white for winter.
Each figure is equipped with a rifle or machine gun, canteen, bayonet, shovel, mess kit, ammo pouches, and more. The figures are modular so that you can alter the poses by swapping parts if you wish.
On the rear of the box are the painting and assembly instructions. A nice color chart is also provided to provide equivalent colors from the Tamiya, Gunze, and Humbrol paint lines.
These figures are very well done and will definitely add some dimension to the rear deck of your Panther or Tiger tank. This set is definitely recommended and I am certainly happy to see MRC bringing in ample supplies of these sets.
My sincere thanks to MRC for this review sample!
