First Look
Dr Emmett Brown discovered a way to travel through time though the traveler must be moving at 88 miles per hour to make the jump. He converted a Delorean DMC-12 to become that iconic time machine which was the centerpiece of all three 'Back to the Future' movies. The heart of the system is the flux capacitor which uses 1.21 gigowatts of power to jump through time.
Round 2 Models has reissued the classic kit of this famous DeLorean under their Polar Lights brand (originally released under the AMT/ERTL brand). The kit is molded in white styrene and presented on eight parts trees plus one tree of chrome plated parts, one body shell with a nice brushed finish and four rubber (vinyl) tires. The kit is designed as a snap kit so it goes together with little or no glue and can be finished in a short time, or the detail modeler can take the time to paint and enhance the excellent detailing already molded into this kit.
The kit replicates the car from three points in the first movie including:
- Standard Power Core (first jump back in time)
- Modified Power Core with Cable Hook (first jump back to the 'present')
- Mr. Fusion Power Core used at the end of the film
This is a nice reissue of the original kit and will be a fun project for the beginner as well as the advanced modeler wants to see what else can be done with this kit. Nice work Round 2 Models!

My sincere thanks to Round 2 Models for this review sample!
