First Look
Mars Attacks! was a parody science fiction film based upon a trading card series and transformed into a movie that featured a wide array of big-name Hollywood stars. One of my favorite scenes is when the Martian ambassador addresses Congress and vaporizes them instead. The grandmother of one of the story's reluctant heroes watching the congressional speech on television bursts out laughing with "They blew up Congress!"
Moebius Models has released this interesting vignette featuring a Martian warrior standing on a street corner with his weapon at the ready. At his feet lies what is left of one of his victims laying against a street lamp. Whoever mastered this kit had as much of a sense of humor as director Tim Burton in creating this scene.
This kit is molded in white and gray styrene and presented on six parts trees plus the display base, one tree of clear parts (Martian helmet) and one aluminum tube that is part of the street lamp.
The skill level of this kit is marked as experienced even though assembly will be very straightforward, there is some painting skills required with the Martian head as well as with the victim's remains on the base to make the completed model really stand out. There is no one right way to paint this model, so this is a great opportunity to test your skills!
This is a great looking kit and I can't wait to test my hand at some of these special painting techniques.
My sincere thanks to Moebius Models for this review sample!
