First Look
While there are scads of military figures in production today in 1/35 scale, civilians are farther and fewer between but are essential to any diorama. This set provides five nicely selected figures for German street scenes, either before or after occupation by the Allies. They include a woman in coat with purse, middle aged man in a suit and hat, old lady with cane and long coat, Hitler Juengen in shorts with long stockings, and a policeman in either steel helmet or the unique German traditional police shako. This figure comes with two complete heads to ensure a good fit between the headgear and top of the head.
The parts for each figure varies but most consist of six basic parts – head, torso, arms and legs. The Polizei figure also has a choice of arms for either asking (“Irhe papieren, bitte!”) or directing traffic.
The younger woman has a two-piece skirt with insert for her lower legs and two optional right arms. The older one comes with a long two-piece coat with separate collar but no torso and the same insert for her lower legs. She is shown in a pose of concern.
The Hitler Youth is in a pose as if he is checking out a passing tank.
The sculpting is nicely done and all figures should be very useful for dioramists.
Overall this is a nicely done set and quite reasonable with five figures for the price of four elsewhere.
